died peacefully Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Cook County Care Center.
He was born to Emma Mae and Thomas Jefferson Judd September 11, 1918 in Minneapolis. He married Marian Rahn in 1941.
Claire worked for D.W. Onan during World War II. In 1954, he and Marian moved to Grand Marais, where he made a career painting and staining homes in Cook County.
Claire and Marian enjoyed spending time outdoors. They were avid canoeists and loved camping, fishing, and bird watching. Claire was also known for his beautiful wood carvings.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, wife, two sisters, and one brother.
He is survived by two nieces, Merlyn Sundgren and Virginia Mann and two nephews, Frank and Bill Rahn.
A funeral service was held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Grand Marais at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 19. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis on Friday, July 20. Memorials preferred to Care Partners Hospice of Cook County.
