The Grand Marais Lions Citizen of the Year honorees last year were Mike Prom of the Gunflint Trail, citizen of the year and Dave and Flossie Palmer of Grand Marais as senior citizens of the year. Congratulations and thank you for all your hard work in our community! The 2009 citizen of the year presentation will be held on the Harbor Park stage at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 1.
In 1971, the Grand Marais Lions Club named its first Citizen of the Year, Olga Soderberg, starting a long tradition of recognizing area citizens and senior citizens for their many contributions to the community. Here is a list of them all:
