Christmas trees for Care Partners

Care Partners of Cook County helps make life easier for community members struggling with endof life or chronic illness issues. The group is also brightening the community with two special holiday events this holiday season.

Community members are invited to visit Magnetic North Farm, 122 Casper’s Hill Road in Colvill, to cut their own Christmas trees, enjoy cookies and cider and visit the critters that inhabit Magnetic North Farm. The invitation is for November 18, 23 and December 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be plenty of help on hand to cut and load trees onto cars. Voluntary donations will be accepted in support of Care Partners.

Care Partners also invites everyone to take part in the “Light Up a Life” event at North Shore Hospital on Thursday, November 29. A small ceremony will be held at the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic entrance at 6 p.m. and then the lights will be lit on a special remembrance tree. The community is invited to stay and enjoy refreshments.

Community members may celebrate the lives of loved ones during the holiday season by purchasing one light for $5 on the memory tree. See the ad on page A7 for a donation form. Donation forms are also available at area stores, the library, the clinic and the hospital.

The donations not only celebrate the memory of loved ones and hopefully brighten the holiday season, the money supports Care Partners.

Care Partners of Cook County is a collaborative effort of the North Shore Health Care Foundation, the Cook County North Shore Hospital, Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and other health and community service providers. Its mission is to enhance end-oflife and palliative care and expand services to the frail elderly in Cook County through a community based approach.
