This year the Oh Ole Night Christmas parade was bigger and better than ever.
Large crowds lined both sides of Main Street, spectators cheering for their favorite parade entrants. One couple from North Mankato said they had wanted to attend the Christmas parade for years, and here they were, among the loudest to clap and cheer as the floats traveled twice around the block. Murray the Moose even stopped to take a picture with the Mrs. as her husband captured the scene with his cell phone camera.
And, if Murray was a star, an even brighter star appeared as a white-bearded chubby fellow in a jolly red suit came by. Indeed, it was Santa Claus, much to the delight of everyone.
Following the parade, the Christmas tree in Grand Marais Harbor Park was lit, some songs were sung, and soon after, the fireworks were sent skyward. They filled the night sky with a kaleidoscope of vibrant colossal, cheerful colors.
All in all, it was a great evening capped off by music and treats sponsored by Joynes Ben Franklin Department store.
At evening’s end, kids and adults left for home, their cheeks turned rosy by the chill in the air, but their hearts warmed by the festivities sponsored by VisitCookCounty and the Grand Marais Tourism Association.
