The “Oh Ole Night” Christmas Parade will be held Friday, Nov. 25 at 5:30 p.m. in Grand Marais and what a grand time that will be.
This year’s top Nordic themed parade entry will win the much-coveted traveling Gnome trophy and have it to display for all to see for one full year.
“Ya-yu betcha that’s fer sure going to be a big deal for da winner,” Ole said. “Don’t want to miss dat. Dat’s exciting stuff!” said an enthusiastic Sven.
So hearty parade watchers you need to take heart and be warmed up and ready. Get your feet on the edge of the curb (but not over it), no cheating allowed, you know who is watching! Necks loosened up, eyeballs limber and nimble, because at 5:30 p.m. sharp, sharper than a reindeer’s hooves and quicker than an elf ‘s sneeze, the parade will start. And even with two full loops on Wisconsin Street, it will be over faster than Santa Claus’s very brief (one eye open) Christmas nap.
Tree lighting at Harbor Park will follow the parade. Then carols will be sung, and later, there will be fireworks.
Earlier, for the little ones, from 2 to 4 p.m. Santa and his sled dogs will be at Stone Harbor Wilderness Supply. Meanwhile, Mrs. Claus will visit Sivertson’s Art Gallery Friday and Saturday (November 25-26) from noon to 3 p.m.
