Christmas, a season of great joy…gift giving, family, social gatherings, and feasting

Already at the Senior Center, we have experienced the heart of the season as many gave pies for our pie bingo in November and attended our first craft bazaar/luncheon fundraiser this month.

Thank you to all who are helping with our endeavors. If you were not able to participate in the craft bazaar, you missed some great crafts made by over 16 vendors. Plan on attending next year, and be sure to put it on your calendar of events for December. A special thank-you goes out to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 413 for their generous donation to the Senior Center with our fundraising efforts for new tables and chairs.

Next month is typically when we all decide to set some goals for ourselves. Perhaps we can help you there, by giving you a chance to reach out to your community by being a board member for the Senior Center. We are looking for people who have a passion for living an active lifestyle and want to help shape the new direction of the Senior Center (new name, strategic plan, future goals, and mission). Another opportunity will be during our quilting time next month… we are planning to devote each Wednesday in January to our unfinished projects. Thus helping you tackle and complete that project. I know I have a few UFO’s too.

Recently American Legion Auxiliary Post 413 donated $400 to the Senior Center. The money will be used to help with the purchase of new tables and chairs. From L-R: Janet Breithaupt, Bev Green, Nancy Backlund, and Kim Nelson.

Programming this month has been scaled down a bit, so that you may not feel so overwhelmed this busy month. However, we are still planning our Christmas party with the infamous dice game, and a trip to Bentleyville to experience the Christmas lights. We would love to have you join us for either event. If not, we at the Senior Center wish you a Merry Christmas!

With program director Kim Nelson calling the numbers, a nice group of bingo players competed to see who could win pie at the Senior Center.
