Christine (Tina) Geralyn Hanson

Christine Geralyn Hanson, age 68, passed away peacefully with family at her bedside on Friday, January 7, 2022, due to heart failure. She was born April 17, 1953, in Waukesha, Wisconsin to Armin and Regina Honeyager. After graduating from UW-Lacrosse, Tina moved to Grand Marais, Minnesota, where she resided for over 40 years.

After retiring in early 2018, Tina quickly assumed her passions, including gardening, canning, crafting, making wreaths, reading, and traveling to see her children and grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were the bright lights in her life; she loved visiting and keeping up with all that they had going on. When she wasn’t busy with her favorite hobbies, you would find her with David (DJ), her beloved spouse and life partner, for over 20 years. Together Tina and DJ enjoyed various year-round outdoor activities, taking weekend drives and snowshoeing, looking for wildlife, enjoying breakfast at Trail Center, exploring new areas by canoe, fishing for Walleye, helping with his photography business, and weekly date nights with friends.

Tina is survived by her spouse David Johnson; her children Craig (Sam) Georg, Renee (Rick) Erickson; her grandchildren Ava Erickson, Lauren Erickson, Andrew Erickson, and due any day L. Erickson; her siblings Rita (Rich) Trickel, Linda Ashborn, Tim (Mona) Honeyager, and Tom (Carol) Honeyager. She is preceded in death by her parents, Armin and Regina Honeyager.

Tina’s wishes were to be cremated, so the family is currently seeing those through. The family will be planning a celebration of life for some time this summer (most likely in Grand Marais) to ensure that friends and family from afar have time to make travel arrangements. Also, it gives the family time to process all this and plan something that Tina would appreciate.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support during this very difficult time. We sincerely appreciate all your thoughts and prayers, and love hearing about all the wonderful memories you have with Tina.
