In October, Jeremy Gulban, owner of CherryRoad Media family of newspapers, was elected to join the board of the National Newspaper Association (NNA) for a two-year term.

Gulban, who has demonstrated over the last two years a commitment to helping small newspapers survive and thrive, has taken on a new role as an active member of the NNA. The NNA has existed since 1885 and serves to protect community newspapers and enhance quality journalism.

CEO of CherryRoad Technologies based in New Jersey, Gulban started the spinoff CherryRoad Media in the fall of 2020 when he purchased his very first newspaper: the Cook County News Herald in Grand Marais, Minnesota. He started a new newspaper in International Falls in 2021, purchased several Gannett-run papers around the country and launched the Lake County Press in January 2022. Currently, Gulban owns 79 papers to date, and says that during the pandemic he had been searching for ways to have an impact to increase community connectedness and quality of life for people in small communities.
