Charles H. “Chuck” Toftey, 80, of Two Harbors, Minnesota, died Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at St. Luke’s Hospice in Duluth.
He was born July 13, 1940, in Joliet, Illinois, to John and Ione (Seglem) Toftey. He lived in Duluth, Minnesota, until Junior High School, moved to Grand Marais, Minnesota, where he attended Cook County High School graduating in 1958. He lived in Grand Marais until 1982, then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he lived until 2012. He returned to the North Shore of Minnesota living in Two Harbors until his passing.
Chuck was a U.S. Army Veteran (Vietnam). Chuck was a retired Union Ironworker with over 30 years of experience in the trade.
Chuck enjoyed fishing and hunting. He spent most of his spare time working on nostalgic Hot Rods making a little extra money buying and selling them.
Chuck was a member of the Masonic Lodge Number 322 in Grand Marais, Minnesota. He was a member of the Zelzah Shrine Temple in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 109 in Two Harbors, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Chuck is survived by his longtime loving companion, Sonja “Sunny” Soderstrom; son, John “J.C.” (Mary) Toftey; granddaughters Kelsey Toftey and Callie Toftey of Henderson, Nevada. Brother, Jack (Suzanne) Toftey, nieces Jennifer Toftey (Autey) and Jill Toftey (Dallenbach), and nephew Jeff Toftey.
