The Cook County Salvation Army reminds residents that in order to be eligible for heat and/or utility assistance this winter, they are required to have completed a financial planning/budgeting class before the request can be honored.
This is a change from the policy used in previous years!
Proof of attendance, which will be provided upon completion of the program, is required.
There is no fee for the programs. . Lutheran Social Services offers several options to complete their financial counseling program: an online option available 24 hours a day; a phone connection that requires a call to schedule day and time; or a physical location in Duluth for those who want to talk to a person. Call (888) 577-2227 for detailed information on how to begin, or go to lssmn.org/debt. . Dollar Works is a class held locally.
