Chamber sets MNsure presentation Sept. 25

The Cook County Chamber of Commerce invites the county community – with a special invitation to business owners and managers – to hear a Chamber-sponsored presentation on MNsure, the new state health care exchange that is scheduled to open Oct. 1.

Mario Vargas, outreach manager at MNsure, will explain the program and take questions at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 at Cook County Higher Ed, 300 W.

Third St., Grand Marais. The presentation is free, and all are welcome.

“We are aware there is a fundraising event that same evening at Devil Track

Landing,” said Jim Boyd, Chamber interim executive director. “Unfortunately, we have no scheduling flexibility. The fundraiser runs from 5-9 p.m., so we are hopeful those who wish to catch both events can visit the fundraiser first, then attend our presentation.”

MNsure is a new health-care exchange that will seek to link Minnesotans, especially the nearly half a million uninsured, with quality, affordable health insurance.

“Minnesotans in every corner of the state, regardless of income, age or medical history, will be able to choose from multiple plans to find the coverage that is right for them,” said April Todd-Malmlov, executive director of MNsure.

Tax credits also will be available through MNsure for businesses that meet certain criteria to help cover the cost of providing insurance to their employees. Small businesses will also be able to provide individualized options to their employees so they can pick the coverage that is right for them and their family.

Call Boyd at (218) 387-2466 for more information.
