I turned on YouTube to listen to the Cook County Board of Commissioners’ meeting held on Tuesday, Aug. 13. On the top right of the headline was the announcement that the public input period had been omitted.
This is the third time these glitches have occurred. This latest one showed a confident Administrator Cadwell striding to his chair after successfully restoring the video service just in time for the board meeting to begin.
This is of interest to me because it is most often the Public Commentary that points out the inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and outright mistakes made by the board under Cadwell’s supervision.
It’s well known that Mr. Cadwell hates public scrutiny of any kind and resists telling any inquiring citizen or public body just what he and the board are up to, even to the point of trying to stifle public broadcasts of all county board meetings.
What’s he hiding?
The City of Grand Marais hired a professional photographer to film its meetings and post them publicly without censorship. This is something the county should authorize to guarantee full disclosure in government so we know we’re not being hood-winked.
