I am objecting to the placement of a tower and building in the Tofte Cemetery. My grandfather and his brother, Andrew Tofte and John Toftey, donated the land for this cemetery. It was to be used as such; many of my relatives are buried there and memories are tied to that place.
The tower will be a large presence there, affecting use and atmosphere. Can you imagine how it will overpower the setting?
There are commercial properties right up to the boundary of the cemetery — they could donate or sell land for that purpose, since they are the primary beneficiaries of such a project.
Taking land from the cemetery and using it for such a project would be subverting the intention of the donation.
