The Cook County News-Herald got a sneak peek at the larger-thanlife murals at the Grand Portage Heritage Center. These amazing paintings by North Shore artist David Gilsvik capture the essence of Grand Portage, past and present.
The Grand Portage National Monument and the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa are pleased to announce the completion of four larger-than-life murals by David Gilsvik.
The Ojibwe heritage murals celebrate the Grand Portage Ojibwe, their way of life and place in a 360- degree tribute to handiwork and human ingenuity. The public is invited to meet the artist at an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. May 21 at the Grand Portage National Monument Heritage Center. There will be appetizers and refreshments – everyone is welcome!
