The Cook County Local Energy Project (CCLEP) has been awarded a grant by the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation for $17,000 to hire a part-time energy coordinator for one year. Additional funding for the position will be provided by the City of Grand Marais ($1,000), Cook County ($1,000), and the Lutheran Community Foundation ($2,000). The new position will be for 20 hours per week at $20 per hour.
One of the energy coordinator’s main projects will be to facilitate the development and implementation of the new Cook County/Grand Marais Energy Plan currently being drafted by a citizens committee. The energy coordinator will also work to support other CCLEP projects and to generally bring the community together around sustainable energy issues.
This new position will be in addition to the one held by Gary Atwood, who is CCLEP’s coordinator for the biomass feasibility study.
Applications will be accepted through Nov. 15. Contact George Wilkes at (218) 387-2137 or gwilkes@boreal.org for more information.
