Cook County Higher Education did extensive work to its building including many energy efficiency improvements.
Cook County Local Energy Project (CCLEP) and Cook County Higher Education (CCHE) will host an open house and celebration on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the North Shore Campus in Grand Marais. CCLEP and Higher Ed utilized the energy audit feature of CCLEP’s Residential Energy Efficiency Program (REEP) to identify areas of energy need for CCHE’s recent remodel. Cook County Higher Ed was able to use the energy findings for securing grant dollars for the construction.
CCLEP’s REEP, a twoyear pilot project from 2012 through 2014, was reviewed and evaluated over the summer. The CCLEP board decided to transition this program into an ongoing service.
The program is designed to increase the energy efficiency of homes in Cook County by using home performance energy audits before and after improvement work. The program is open to all income levels. Homeowners pay for the audits ($400) and improvements, but audit rebates ($300) will be available with completion of selected improvements.

Stop by on Wednesday evening to see the newly remodeled Higher Education North Shore campus and learn about the REEP pilot project and ongoing program. There will be a debut of three new energy videos and a slide show of CCHE construction and other REEP projects.
Energy auditor Chris Norman will be available to discuss what an energy audit can tell you. CCLEP Coordinator Virginia Danfelt will be available to discuss how REEP works. CCHE Executive Director Paula Sundet Wolf will give tours of the remodeled building and give information about the process.
A short presentation about REEP will be given at 6 p.m. and upon request. Come learn how REEP can benefit your home and how to participate in the program. Light refreshments will be provided.
