Como Oil and Propane and Cook County Local Energy Project’s (CCLEP) residential energy efficiency program (REEP), a pilot project, have announced a partnership to promote energy efficiency in Cook County. Luke Janeksela, general manager at Como, expressed his company’s interest last week in supporting local energy efficiency efforts.
Como is doing this in other communities in the state and is supportive of CCLEP’s energy efficiency work in Cook County.
REEP is a pilot project that will upgrade up to 10 homes and is open to all income levels. A rebate of $350 on the energy audit is available through CCLEP during the pilot project.
According to CCLEP Coordinator Virginia Danfelt, REEP has steadily picked up local clients over the winter. She said, “To date eight homes have been audited with a ninth scheduled. Most are in construction with two completed. All of these homes that use propane are also clients of Como Oil and Propane so the partnership is natural.”
Como will also be able to offer furnace, boilers and water heater rebates through the MN Propane Association later in the spring. There are categories for new, replacement and upgrade installations. Watch for details.
The CCLEP Board will review REEP and work to develop a permanent program with input from clients, partners and the general public. For more information contact localenergy@boreal.org.
