CCHS grad named Teacher of the Year




Monique Nelson Albright, a 1989 graduate of Cook County High School, has been named the Saginaw Valley League’s “Teacher of the Year” for 2011 for Midland High School. The award, established in 1995, recognizes one teacher from each of the member high schools in the league.

Albright graduated from the University of Minnesota- Duluth with a bachelor’s degree and from Saginaw Valley State University with a master’s degree in secondary teaching. She has taught social studies classes at Midland High School for 14 years including history, global issues, psychology, sociology and government. She is the current student council advisor.

Monique is the daughter of Dick Nelson of Lutsen and the late Maribeth Strand Doucette. She is the granddaughter of recently deceased Helen Thoreson, Strand Sundquist, and Willard Nelson.

Monique resides in Midland with her husband Eric and children Josh, Maya and Carter.
