Cook County Higher Education (CCHE) is starting its 21st year with some big transitions. Executive Director Dr. Paula Sundet Wolf, who has worked with CCHE for the past 20 years, has announced her intention to retire. She states, “As a founder, it is time for me to step aside for new leadership. CCHE is seeking a significant increase in state funding to dramatically step up the services and programs we offer to the community. This creates a perfect time for someone with vision, energy, and passion to step in and build on our foundational work.”
Sundet Wolf has seen many milestones and achievements over the past 20 years including keeping CCHE afloat in difficult years, building partnerships with regional colleges and universities, and in particular establishing the North Shore Campus. “It has been an honor to be involved with this dynamic organization, and exciting to have witnessed so many changed lives from the programs we offer. What a wonderful legacy we are all a part of creating and supporting!”
Karen Halbersleben, president of CCHE’s board of directors states, “Paula’s career at Cook County Higher Education has left a deep and enduring legacy on this community, as well as with the individuals of so many students whose lives have been changed by the education that she has helped provide. She has built a strong foundation of service and outreach that positions CCHE for continued growth in the years to come. The board of directors joins the community in saluting her many years of diligent service.”
CCHE board members and Sundet Wolf are working together to assure a smooth transition to a new executive director. A search committee has been reviewing applications and begun preliminary interviews, with the goal to have a new executive director by July 1. Potential applicants should contact Kelsey Rogers Kennedy at highered@northshorecampus.org.
