On Tuesday, February 14, the Cook County Highway Department issued a travel advisory for county gravel roads due to icy road conditions.
Highway Maintenance Superintendent Matt Nesheim stated that snow-covered county gravel roads are in “especially poor condition.” Highway department staff are working to address the poor road conditions, but continued rain is impeding their progress.
“We are working to make our roads passable as quickly as possible,” Nesheim said. “In the meantime, we encourage people to limit travel. If travel is required, please drive according to conditions and carry an emergency kit with you.”
