At the September Cook County DFL Central Committee Meeting, members of the committee who reside in Commissioner District 1 voted to issue Paula Marie Powell a letter of support.
Paula is a lifelong local who grew up at her family’s fishing resort on Saganaga Lake. Her community involvement includes membership on the Board of Directors for Cook County Higher Education, the Cook County Joint Powers racial equity workgroup, and the Gunflint Trail Historical Society. For the past eight years she has worked for Isle Royale Transportation Lines as an office manager and deckhand on Lake Superior.
Paula is an avid outdoorswoman who is committed to preserving our county’s clean water and wilderness for future generations to enjoy. She intends to use her position on the board to work towards affordable longterm housing, creating jobs in our local economy, and fostering mutual respect and dignity for all people. As a commissioner, Paula will work in collaboration with other members of the board to ensure that Cook County is a place where all residents can live healthy, safe, productive, and dignified lives. We urge all District 1 residents to vote for Paula Marie Powell!
