Cook County/Silver Bay Senior Babe Ruth went into the playoffs on a high note as they defeated Aurora 10-7 on Thursday, July 30, in Aurora.
The playoffs started on Saturday, August 1.
DJ Seidel drove in two runs on a first-inning single to start the action for CC/ SB. After one inning, it was CC/SB 2-0, but Aurora tacked one run in each of the next two innings to tie the score into the fourth inning.
Lucas Stadler took the win for CC/SB. Lucas pitched two innings, allowing one run on one hit. Paul Dorr pitched five innings in relief. Paul gave up ten hits, six runs, two bases on balls and walked one in relief.
Noah Schuck took the loss for Aurora. He pitched 4.1 innings allowing 13 hits and ten runs while walking two and striking out two.
A five-run fourth inning put CC/SB on top for good. A single by Timmy Perfetto drove in one run to start the action. A triple by Stadler drove in the second run, and a triple by Miller with singles by Wallin and Seidel each drove in runs.
Aurora put up four runs in the seventh inning to make a game of it. Kaulub Corbett and Hunter Levander each had RBI’s for Aurora in the inning.
Ero Wallin was 4-4 at the plate, driving in three runs. Andrew Miller and Tim Perfetto each had three hits, and D. Seidel and Joe Deschampe had two hits. Deschampe was 2-2 at the plate. Lucas Stadler also finished with one hit in the high scoring game.
Three Aurora players, Constati, Michaels and Corbett each had two hits in the game.
Cook County/Silver Bay finished with 15 hits and Aurora 11 hits in the contest.
