CC/SB Senior Babe Ruth falls to Ely

Ely put up four runs in the second inning, one in the fourth and put the game away with a seven run fourth inning to send Cook County/Silver Bay (CC/SB) to the loser bracket in the Senior Babe Ruth state tournament play.

The game was played in Ely on Thursday, August 6.

After being held scoreless through three innings, CC/SB tied the score by putting five points on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth. However, Ely came right back in the fourth to score seven runs and essentially put the games out of reach for CC/ SB, who would not score again and fell 15-5 with the game ending after the sixth inning due to the ten-run rule.

Bryce Langwell earned the victory on the mound for Ely, surrendering five runs on six hits over six innings. He ended with five strikeouts.

Ero Wallin started for CC/SB. Ero gave up seven hits and seven runs over three innings.

Timmy Perfetto relieved Wallin and took the loss. He gave up eight runs on eight hits while striking out two, over two and twothirds innings.

Ely fielders were spot on, not committing any errors in the field.

Isaiah Deschampe was 3-3 at the plate with one RBI. The other CC/SB players to get one hit each were L. Stadler, Ero Wallin and Timmy Perfetto.

Tyler Housely collected four hits in five at-bats and drove in 5 RBI’s for Ely. Collecting two hits each for Ely were Zach Cheney, Tyler Mattson and T.J. Banks.

With the loss, CC/SB played Eveleth on Saturday, August 8.
