In the early morning hours of October 10, 2013, our Lord and Savior wrapped his arms around our mother, Catherine Doll to take her home.

She was born on July 21, 1927, in Madison, Wisc. to Frank and Edith (Beyler) Statz. Catherine graduated from Central High School in Madison in 1945.

She married Philip J. Doll, Sr. on Nov. 17, 1948 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Together they had 12 children who survive them: John, Connie (Neil Bickler), Cathi (David Williams) of Grand Marais, Philip Jr. (Janet), Amy, Candace (Stephen Dott), Danny (Diane), Christine (Jack Toal), David (Mary Beth), Dennis (Jill), Darlene (Tom Brown), Todd (Carrie).

After raising her children, she went to work at UW Hospital in the Pediatric Eye Clinic where she retired in 1997.

All because two people fell in love, they leave behind 40 grandchildren including Brooke (Mark Youngdahl), Lindsay (Aaron Mielke), Samantha (Jim Wallner), Seth Williams (Martina), and Stephanie (Gary Radloff), all of Grand Marais, and 35 great grandchildren with many more expected.

Cathe r ine is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Philip on September 30, 1994, two sisters and five brothers.

A mass of Christian burial and celebration of her life was held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Monona, Wisc. on October 15, 2013. Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison, WI.

Mother will be remembered for her generosity and patience and the ability to make each child, grandchild, and great grandchild feel favored. She was a huge sports fan and loved football, basketball and golf.

Her faith in God and devotion to the Blessed Virgin never wavered, and the giant void she left in our lives can only be filled with wonderful memories.
