David Johnson took this action shot of a hungry Belted kingfisher sitting on top of one of the old fish houses in the Grand Marais Harbor near the rec park. While these birds can survive cold temperatures if near open water, they often choose to migrate to the southern United States, the Caribbean, Central America, or northern South America.
