Cook County will receive $730,000 from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act along with the City of Grand Marais ($106,000), Tofte ($6,775), Lutsen $10,900) and Schroeder ($5,425) who will also receive financial assistance from the act.
Individuals, families, schools, and medical facilities affected by the pandemic are eligible for some of these funds.
The $150 billion Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) was established through the $2 trillion CARES Act.
The Coronavirus Relief Fund provides payments to State, Local and Tribal governments as they navigate the coronavirus pandemic’s impacts.
Payments from the Coronavirus Relief Fund must be used to cover expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency because of COVID-19, or for state or government budget expenses approved March 27, 2020, incurred starting March 1, 2020, ending December 30, 2020.
