It’s time for the 2014 fall Care Partners volunteer training program, which will be held for three Tuesdays, Sept. 16, 23, and 30 from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Why Care Partners?

The gift of your friendship can mean a lot for those on the journey of aging or serious illness – just someone to hear their stories, be with them or remind them of their significance. Care Partners volunteers provide companionship in the client’s home, at the Care Center, or the hospital. Volunteers provide ongoing friendly visits, a compassionate presence at end-of-life, phone check-ins, or caregiver respite – each volunteer finds his own niche.

Contact Kay Grindland at 387-3788 for more information. Pre-registration is required for the training.

Raffle tickets are also on sale for a stunning queensize quilt by Carol Harris to support Care Partners’ work. The quilt is on display at Drury Lane Books. Tickets may be purchased at Drury Lane Books, Buck’s Hardware, Crystal’s Log Cabin Quilts, Joynes Ben Franklin, Lake Superior Trading Post, Java Moose and Blue Water Cafe in Grand Marais, and at Great Gifts in Lutsen.
