Care Partners will hold an open house and luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 12 for those considering the Care Partners Group Respite Program. Caregivers and their loved ones are invited to meet staff and volunteers and experience the setting.
The new Group Respite Program provides a double benefit. It provides seniors with early memory loss or other long-term illness a safe, enjoyable, and stimulating social setting. It provides their family caregivers with a much needed and deserved break or the opportunity to stay and share social time with their loved one.
The Group Respite Program is held twice a month: the second Wednesday and fourth Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 or 3 p.m. at the lower level of the Congregational Church in Grand Marais. The facilities provide a quiet and comfortable setting for activities including current events, crafts, games, music and snacks.
The program is run by trained Care Partners staff and volunteers and is supported by participant contributions and a MN Department of Human Services Community Service/Community Services Development Grant.
Participants must pre-register. If interested, call Jeannette at 387-3788 and she will arrange an introduction to the program. Caregivers interested in attending the Caregiver Support Group are also welcome to join in the luncheon and meet with support group leaders. RSVP by calling Care Partners at 387-3788.
