Thank you to the Cook County Whole Foods Co-op!
Care Partners is being supported through the Co-op’s Round-Up Program in February! When you buy items at the Co-op this month, you can ask the cashier to round up your purchase total to the nearest dollar – the difference between the original total and the new rounded-up total is donated to Care Partners! We are so grateful for the many wonderful ways in which our community joins with us to assist older adults in Cook County!
Memory Café – Thursday, February 16
A Memory Café is a free, casual gathering where people with memory loss and the family or friends who care for them can come together in a safe, supportive, relaxed environment. Guests share conversations over a cup of coffee and games, crafts, music or other simple activities. Memory Cafés are not a form of respite care. Instead, they offer a place where both caregiver and care recipient can enjoy one another’s company and interact with others who share similar experiences. The Cook County Memory Café meets at The Hub the third Thursday of each month from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

Your “A” Team: Planning Ahead for Aging Well
Aging well is definitely a team effort – and it’s more likely to happen when we plan ahead! We’ll learn about resources for building an aging support team with a panel of representatives from local service organizations, including In-Home Support, The Hub, North Shore Health, Care Partners of Cook County, and Aging Well Resources. There will also be time for participants to ask questions of our panelists. AND – thanks to an anonymous generous donation – the first 20 people who register for the in-person class will receive a FREE lunch (yummy taco salad provided by The Hub.) This free class is part of a continuing series of Lunch & Learn events focused on aging well in Cook County, presented by Care Partners in collaboration with Cook County Higher Education on the fourth Wednesday of the month from noon to 1pm. Here’s the event & registration link.
Death Café – Thursday, February 23
A Death Café isn’t a place, but an event in which people are invited to express their thoughts, dreams, questions and concerns about death and dying. Paradoxically, sharing about death often inspires participants to embrace a more meaningful life. The Death Café meets the fourth Thursday of each month from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at The Hub…or you can join via Zoom! The Death Café is hosted by Cook County End of Life Doulas Pat Campanaro, Margy Nelson, Suzanne Sherman, and Jean Skeels.
