Care Center staff committed to high standard of care

As staff of the Cook County North Shore Care Center, we would like to address the recent article Department of Health Cites Deficiencies at Care Center. The article contained many excerpts from the Summary of Deficiencies documentation written by the Department of Health, following the annual survey that was completed on September 26, 2013.

We recognize the issues outlined in the survey and subsequent article are concerning. They do not reflect the day-to-day care provided by staff. The survey results indicate the residentrelated deficiencies identified were “isolated,” with “no actual harm” and that all care given was in “substantial compliance” with state and federal regulations. Each deficiency has been addressed through a plan of correction approved by the Department of Health.

Currently, the North Shore Care Center is a five-star rated facility. This rating uses a five-star scale. Our facility has maintained this level of overall quality for the past 10 months. A fivestar rating recognizes our facility at the highest level of quality, “much above average.” This measure includes data from health inspections, staffing and a variety of quality measures.

The Cook County North Shore Care Center is committed to maintaining a high standard of care for our residents. We encourage all who are concerned to view the full results of these surveys at www.medicare.gov/ nursinghomecompare as well as the overall quality ratings and comparisons with other facilities.
