There will be an abundance of activities for residents at the North Shore Health Care Center during November. The patios are cleaned up, and the colder weather means more time indoors to work on craft projects and baking for our upcoming Resident Council Holiday Sale on December 5.
The residents will mark Minnesota’s deer hunting opener on November 3 by sharing their favorite hunting stories, and reminiscing about the big one that got away!
On November 12 at 1:15 p.m. the American Legion Post 413 Honor Guard will be here for a Veterans Honor Ceremony to recognize our veterans at North Shore Health Care Center. Our veterans include Harold Husby, Charles Norman, Edward Olson, June Palmer, and Rolf Skrien. Many thanks to each of you for the sacrifices you made for all of us.
The monthly birthday party will be held on November 14 at 3 p.m. to honor Skip Rouser, Joyce Hagen, and Mary Liebsch. There will be plenty of cake and ice cream, and Doug Sanders will play our favorite tunes on the piano. Friends and family are welcome to join us for this event.
On November 15, the residents are planning an outing to the Senior Center for lunch and visiting with their friends there. In the afternoon we will have our annual “Turkey Bingo” giving the residents an opportunity to win a turkey to share with their family or friends.
The Lioness will host their monthly social on Saturday, November 17 at 3 p.m. We always enjoy the music, visiting, and delicious desserts they provide for the event.
The residents will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving Day on November 22. We’ll watch the big Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in the morning, followed by a traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings. In the afternoon, we will have a fun card game, and there will be plenty of football on TV for those football fans.
Myron Bursheim will be bringing his musical talent to the Care Center most Sunday afternoons in November, and Susan Scherer will be here to play the piano on Wednesday afternoons. Harris Mills will also be here to perform on November 12 at 2:30 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to join us for any of our music events.
During the season of giving thanks, the residents and staff at North Shore Health Care Center want to express their gratitude to the many volunteers who so generously give their valuable time throughout the year. We also want to thank the community churches that provide an ecumenical service for the residents every Sunday, and to Pastor Mark from Bethlehem Lutheran Church for having a Bible Study every Tuesday morning. We are so grateful for all of you!
