The annual Candlelight Ski and Snowshoe Hike will be held on the Sugarbush Trail in Tofte from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13. The event is free and open to the public.
Visitors will meet at the Oberg Mountain trailhead and ski on the 2 km (1.5 mile) trail or snowshoe hike on a shorter 1 km (.6 mile) Superior Hiking Trail lit with candle luminaries in the Superior National Forest. After skiing and hiking, participants will enjoy a bonfire with hot chocolate and treats from local area resorts.
The Candlelight Ski and Snowshoe Hike was founded by Greg Fangel and his wife. He is an avid cross-country skier and a Tofte resident. He has been a cross-country skier since 1972, and is the owner of WoodenSkis.com, a business that acquires, preserves, sells and educates about cross-country wooden skis dating back to the early 1900s.
