Canada removes all COVID-19 restrictions for border crossing



Good news for local folks who like to visit Thunder Bay or the surrounding area.

As of September 30, the Canadian government removed all COVID-19 border restrictions to enter Canada. That means you won’t have to show proof of vaccination or have to be quarantined when you enter the country.

According to the Toronto Sun folks traveling by air or rail won’t have to wear masks or have health checks as of October 1, 2022.

According to Paul Pepe, manager of Tourism Thunder Bay, Americans visiting in June was only 60 percent of pre-pandemic levels. Pepe told Thunder Bay News watch that lodges in the area have lost 90 percent of their market because of the COVID- 19 restrictions stopping Americans from entering the country.
