With the work nearing completion on the $24.5 million expansion and renovation of the care center and hospital, North Shore Health is seeking artists’ submission proposals and qualifications for the facility.

Two artists will be selected to install original works of art in designated locations within the building beginning May 10, 2018, through August 31, 2018.

Art will be displayed in the lobby, registration area, hallways and other public areas of the hospital and care center.

The works of art should celebrate and reflect one or more aspects of the cultural, historical, geographical or community attributes of Cook County.

The request for submission is open to artists working in any suitable media, subject to constraints imposed by the ability to display the works of art.

Artists may be requested to make a presentation to the selection committee about the proposed art for the site, including visual representations, materials to be used, size, weight, installation specifications and methods, maintenance requirements, and other issues relevant to the successful use of the art selected.

Selected works will be displayed for four months. At the artist’s request, NSH will identify the work of art as available for purchase at a price suggested by the artist.

Submissions should be mailed to North Shore Health Art, Attention: Selection Committee, 515 W. 5th Ave., Grand Marais, MN 55604. Submissions should be received by April 13, 2018.
