Mark your calendar for Thursday, October 13, and come out and support volleyball players while they raise funds for the local branch of the American Cancer Society.
From grade school to high school (and even some alumni) the players will play exhibition games against each other in the spirit of fun and good-hearted competition, all in the name of a good cause.
“We will be conducting a fundraiser for the local branch of the American Cancer Society,” said Assistant Volleyball Coach Kelly Roberts, adding that some of the funds raised will help local cancer patients pay transportation costs to and from hospitals and clinics. The action will start at 4:30 p.m. when the 5th-and 6th-grade teams play each other.
Matches with the 7thand 8th-grade teams, the C-team and the junior varsity will follow those games and then the action will really heat up when the varsity faces alumni players.
It should be an evening of good fun and a chance to see the athletes show off their skills. A freewill offering will be taken at the door and there will be a raffle for prizes.
Memory Plates commemorating loved ones who have had cancer will also be sold for $2.
