According to the anglers visiting Buck’s Hardware Hank in Grand Marais, the brookies in Carrot Lake are biting in 10′-12′ of water on crawlers. They are being caught off the bottom during the day and with flies in the evening.
Several area lakes have been giving up walleyes. They are being caught in Devil Fish Lake at 20′ of water by trolling slow with spinners in the evening. In Pike Lake they have been found at 23′ of water with jig and minnow. Poplar Lake fishermen have also had luck with a jig and minnow, but at 25′. On Lake Saganaga, fish deep around the islands—35′ to 40’— with a jig and minnow.
The walleyes on Crescent Lake in Lutsen have been caught at 12′ to 15′ with slip bobber and leech. Walleyes on Tom Lake are being caught at 15′ with jig and minnow in the evening.
Only the walleyes on Devil Track have been biting something different— anglers report success with Rapalas and slow trolling.
Lake Trout have been caught in Gunflint Lake in 50′ of water on spoons.
