Buck’s Big Fish Contest winners announced

Three fishermen took the top two spots in three different categories this year for Buck’s Big Fish Contest.

Clay Gruber placed first and second in the walleye category with 5 pound, 2 ounce and 4 pound, 6 ounce entrants. Stephanie Bowman took third place with a 3 pound, 12-ounce entry.

Brian Beck’s 18 pounds, 15 ounce and 4 pounds, 12-ounce salmon took first and second in that category. Michael Petersen’s 3 pound, 9 ounce catch took third.

Perennial top finisher in the brook trout category Jeremy Peterson dominated once again. Peterson caught brook trout weighing 3 pounds, 6 ounces and 2 pounds, 13 ounces to take the top two spots, with Blake Backowski placing third with a 2 pound, 11-ounce catch.

Bob Seward won the bass division with a 5 pound, 4 ounce catch. Mark Schliep took second with a 4 pound, 5 ounce entry. Russell Bowman and Marlo Larson tied for third with their 4 pound, 3 ounce entries.

Kacy Schreiber’s 30-pound lunker won first place in the lake trout category. Richard Dressely placed second with a 26 pound, 8 ounce beauty, and Randy Dekrod finished third place with a healthy 15 pound, 3 ounce entry.

All of the top three placers won sweet prizes provided by Buck’s Hardware Hank and Northern Wilds, who sponsored the tournament.
