Broadband Waterloo

About Broadband, it is interesting to read what once was described as the vast wilderness of fiber neglect and thus, surely our doom. Now with a little sunshine it doesn’t look quite as bleak.

The frantic grasping for Washington’s shiny brass ring at a cost of some 60 million now looks more like greedy capitalism and 16 million or thereabouts. And only half of that beholden to us few, us weary band of 5,000.

With Arrowhead/Pulse, the Northeastern Services Co-op, Qwest, the Department of Education, perhaps even Broad/Boreal all plowing past our doorsteps, the new dilemma it appears may be enough “takers” to keep all those fibers humming. Though that may be their Waterloo. Hopefully, it will not be mine to subsidize at thrice the price.

Funny how expensive that “free” money appears to be at times.
