Brian Wallace named to national ski team

Brian Wallace of Woodbury is among 10 men and three women named to the World Junior Championship Team, which will compete in Nordic combined and ski jumping in Germany Jan. 25-31.

Wallace is the grandson of Delores and the late Lyle Saethre of Grand Marais. His parents are Mark and Kathy Wallace.

Brian competed in the national tournament in Lake Placid, N.Y. and was a winner of the Junior Division in ski jumping. ski team

Among the team members selected by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association are three firstyear members of the U.S. Nordic Combined Ski Team.

“I’m really excited to see what our U.S. Ski Team newcomers can do,” said USSA Nordic Director John Farra. “They are talented and focused on getting to the podium.”

Wallace will leave Jan. 18 for a two-week stay in Hinterzarten.
