Cook County Law Enforcement sent two sheriff ’s deputies to Great Expectations School on Monday, Dec. 18 to investigate theft and vandalism that occurred over the weekend.
After conducting interviews with staff and some students the officers were able to find the perpetrators and the missing items were returned to the school.
When asked to comment, Great Expectations School Director Peter James said, “All our choices have consequences, and even bad choices can be opportunities for learning. In this case, some students made some really bad choices and will experience some significant consequences, including the damage to important relationships. I also think it serves as a reminder of how often so many of our children make good choices and support one another along those lines.
“My hope is that this will be an opportunity for students to experience some personal growth, as we work to restore the trust and engagement necessary for a healthy school community.”
