Boys win the first game of the year

The CCHS boys’ basketball team traveled to Silver Bay on Friday, November 30 to open their season against a familiar North Shore rival, coming away with a hard-fought win.

Leading the team in scoring was senior forward Will Ramberg, who netted 25 points. Senior guard Pete Sutton scored 13, Daunte Deschampe had 11, Ray Gordon 10, Jordan Porter 10, and Adam Dorr 5.

Weston Monson, 23, and Mason Ollman, 22, led the Mariners in scoring.

“Overall it was a good game,” said first-year head coach Colin Everson. “It feels great to start the season with a win, but also it was great to see how the team played through some adversity. We got off to a slow start, but the team figured it out. We started to move the ball of offense, communicate on defense and rebound better.

“A stat that I’m very proud of is after that in the first 15 defensive possessions we gave up six offensive rebounds and then for the rest of the game we only gave up one offensive rebound.

“I am very excited to see how we can continue to grow and gel as a team. This was a good test for us to look at where we are at and what we can continue to improve on,” Everson said.
