In a football game that wasn’t always pretty, the final score is what ultimately counts, and the Vikings beat Bigfork 24-20 at home on the Lyle Anderson field last Friday night.
Cook County took an 8-0 lead early and led 8-0 at the half. Bigfork scored a touchdown in the third but missed on their two-point conversion. Both teams had two touchdowns in the fourth, but Cook County made both of its two-point conversions while Bigfork only made one of its two-point attempts.

Ray Dressely led the team in rushing with 79 yards. Receivers MaCoy Fairbanks, Amos Falter, and Ray Dressely stepping up to fight for the ball. Hunter Rex threw two key touchdown passes and was 6 of 16 for 135 yards. Calvin Battees and Ryan Smith continue to impress on the defensive and offensive lines. In the Secondary, Rayce Gibson continues to cover and play great coverage defensively.”
Viking sophomore quarterback Hunter Rex threw for two touchdowns and had one ball intercepted. One of Hunter’s touchdown throws was caught by eighth grader MaCoy Fairbanks, who had two catches for 35 yards. Fairbanks also rushed once for 14 yards. Amos Falter hauled in one of Rex’s throws and ran 50 yards for a touchdown. Ray Dressely had three catches for 50 yards.
Ray Dressely led the team with 79 yards on the ground off 13 carries. Kole Anderson ran the ball 14 times and picked up 67 yards, while Hunter Rex rushed for 26 yards off four carries. Rohan Rude had one run for six yards. Kole Anderson scored all of the two-point conversions for the Vikings.
On defense, Kole Anderson led the team with 14 tackles. Ray Dressley finished with 11, Calvin Battees had nine, Rohan Rude eight, Ryan Smith six, Ben Rex six, Rayce Gibson four, Jordan Backstrom four, Ryan Christiansen three, Reuben Youngdahl one and Arlo Christensen, one.
Stats for the year
So far on the year, senior running back/wide receiver Ryan Christiansen leads the team in rushing, averaging 75.5 yards per game, covering 377 yards on the ground. As a wide receiver, he averages 42 yards per game. The speedy running back has scored ten touchdowns to lead the team in scoring with 60 points. Christiansen also leads in punt return yards with an 8.67-yard average.
Viking quarterback Hunter Rex has compiled 789 yards of offense through the air and on the ground to lead the team.
Senior fullback/defensive tackle/linebacker Kole Anderson leads the team with 16.8 tackles per game. In addition, Kole has rushed for 161 yards and scored 50 points.
Junior guard, defensive lineman Ryan Smith, has five quarterback sacks.
The Vikings played unbeaten Mountain Iron-Buhl on Thursday, October 13. Mountain Iron is ranked sixth in the state in the nine-man division. Cherry, who gave the Vikings their only loss of the season, is ranked 11th. Renville County West is ranked first with a 6-0 mark on the year.
