It was a cold day on Tuesday, January 31, perfect weather for Polar Bears but not so much for Vikings.
The Cook County Boys basketball team got off to a hot start against the Floodwood Polar Bears last Tuesday, leading 33-24 at the half. The team extended its lead to 13 points early in the second half and then the Polar Bears all became better versions of Wardell (Stephen) Curry, the Golden State Warriors mega-superstar, shooting 9-11 from the three-point line in the second half.
Ouch!
“This was a gut-punch loss for us,” said Viking Head Coach Keaton Riley.
Point totals weren’t available at press time so they will be included in next week’s paper.
The boys play Barnum at home on Friday February 3 at 4:45 p.m. The next home game will be played February 20 against Wrenshall with the varsity taking the floor at 6:30 p.m. Littlefork-Big Falls comes to Grand Marais on February 24 for the last regular season home game of the year. The boys take the floor at 6:30 p.m.
