Boys fall to Silver Bay

The Vikings traveled to Silver Bay Mariners on Thursday, May 11 to play against a familiar friend and foe, the Silver Bay Mariners. In the summers many of these kids join forces and play on the same Legion team so they know each other quite well. That said, when they square off representing their high schools each side wants bragging rights, and on this day, it was the Mariner’s turn to brag.

During the first game one bad inning sunk the Vikings.

For three innings the scoreboard showed “goose eggs” as neither team could find their offense. That changed in the fourth when the Mariners scored seven runs to essentially put the game away. The Vikings managed one lone run in the seventh and the Mariners tacked on a run in the sixth to win 8-1.

Amos Falter pitched 3.2 innings for the Vikings, taking the loss. Benelli Myers came in to relieve Falter.

Jacob Carpenter pitched 6.1 innings for the Mariners. He finished with eight strikeouts and didn’t give up a run.

Kole Anderson ended his night with two hits and one RBI. Hunter Gomez, Benelli Myers and Ethan Tate each had one hit.

Carpenter, the former Vikings, led the Mariners with his bat as well as with his arm. He finished with two hits and two RBIs.

At the time of this game the Vikings record was 2-5.

Junior Varsity takes tough loss
