The Saturday, May 7 game against the Ely Timberwolves turned into a pitcher’s duel between the Vikings Paul Dorr and the Timberwolves Gunner Hart.

The hurlers both had shutouts going through four innings of play. The Timberwolves finally scored one run in the fifth and both teams scored two runs in the sixth. However, Ely put the game away by adding two more runs in the seventh and the Vikings were unable to counter, taking a 5-2 loss.

Hart ended up pitching a complete game. He gave up two runs on four hits while striking out nine and walking one.

Paul Dorr threw six and one-third innings. Paul gave up five hits and five runs while striking out five. Isaac Sandstrom relieved Dorr. He gave up one hit and didn’t allow a run.

Hunter Gomez, Amos Falter, J Shannon and Paul Dorr each got one hit in the game.

Ely’s top hitter was Caid Chittum, who was two-for-four at the plate.

The Vikings ended with five. Fielding errors while Ely had two.

The Viking runner was safe at third but was stranded on base when the next batter flied out to end the inning.
