Boys beat Nashwauk- Keewatin

The boys’ basketball team traveled to Nashwauk-Keewatin on Friday, February 24 to face the Spartans in their last game before playoffs. A great effort led the Vikings to a win.

Even at the half, 23-23, the Vikings held the Spartans to 14 points over the second half and won 45-37. This is the third win of the season for a very young Viking team.

“Will (Ramberg) played outstanding,” said head coach Mitch Dorr. “He worked hard on defense, was diving on the floor, and hit big shot after big shot for us.

“Mike Burton,” added coach Dorr, “played his best game to date with outstanding defense and really took care of the ball well for us.”

Ramberg, a sophomore, led the team in scoring with 19 points. Freshman Jordan Porter scored 11 points, Trusen Gordon 5, and Sam O’Phelan put in 5 points.

With playoffs now under way, coach Dorr said there is a “75 percent chance of playing Northland Remer on Monday, March 6, at 6 p.m. at Esko. The Northland Remer Eagles are 11-14 on the season.
