The Cook County High School boys’ baseball team beat Northwoods 8-2 and then lost 10-0 to Cherry on May 30 in the first and second round of the Section 7A play-offs. With the first game win the Vikings were guaranteed two more games, however, their next loss will drop them from the play-offs.
Kole Anderson pitched 6.1 innings to take the win against Northwoods. Kole allowed four hits, two runs, six bases on balls and struck out 13 in the win.
Kole also led the team at the plate. He was 2-4 with three RBI’s. Hunter Gomez was 2-4 with one RBI and Amos Falters was 2-3. That’s all of the hits the Vikings accrued as the Northwoods pitcher recorded 11 strikeouts.
Cherry
In the second game Cherry put up six runs on the scoreboard in the first inning to take a commanding lead. Cherry would add three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth while holding the Vikings scoreless.
The Vikings had four hits, one each by Hunter Gomez, J Shannon, Kole Anderson and Jake Mixdorf.
Ethan Tate started on the mound and took the loss. Ethan gave up eight hits, nine runs, walked four and struck out three in five innings.
The Vikings faced Silver Bay on Thursday, June 1, in the third round of the Section 7A playoffs in a game played near Cherry.
