Boiler fire suppressed at Gunflint Trail residence



On Wednesday, February 27, at 6:25 a.m. Cook County sheriff ’s office 911 received a call from property owners at 1233 Gunflint Trail.

The callers said there was a fire outside of the exterior boiler structure on the property.

Responding to the fire was the sheriff ’s office, Maple Hill fire department and STOP Team, along with Grand Marais First Responders and the North Shore Health ambulance.

Upon arrival, flames were seen visibly shooting out of the top and around the boiler structure. Firefighters were able to suppress the fire by 6:50 a.m. and began clearing the scene at 7:29 a.m.

No injuries were reported, and no medical transfers were necessary.
