February 17 was a great day for Bob Spry. The Grand Marais curler’s team wrapped up the national championship in the Masters event, and he and his wife Millie also celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.
Doesn’t get much better than that.
The three-day 2019 USSMCA National Senior Men’s Curling Championship drew the top curlers from around the country. It was held Feb. 14-17 at the Duluth Curling Club. While this is Bob’s first win as a Master, previously he’s won two times in Super Seniors and two times in Seniors.
This year Bob competed with Ray Mickolojak, who is from Superior, Wisconsin, and two Duluth curlers, Dick Fisher and Seppo Sormanen.
