A visit to the Caribou Highlands website offers some exciting news. The Moguls BLU Ice Bar will be back in…13 days, 12 hours, 20 minutes and 9…no, 8…no, 7seconds. Check out the webpage at www.caribouhighlands.com/icebar/ to see the countdown to the opening of the 2011 Ice Bar on Friday, December 23.
Work on the BLU Ice Bar begins December 14. Chris Swarbrick, carving champion from the St. Paul Winter Carnival, will craft it again this year.
Barb Swenson, marketing director for Odyssey Resorts, said, “We are very excited about this year’s Moguls Ice Bar! To begin with, its location offers both ski-in and ski-out from Lutsen Mountains [Bridge Run on Eagle MT] and from state snowmobile trails.
“Guests will find a roaring bonfire outside the large tent that adds protection from the elements. Inside the tent, guests will be greeted with about 150 blocks of ice carved and sculpted into a fun and functioning ice bar.
“We will deliver the ‘attitude + altitude’ experience in atmosphere, drink and food menus and entertainment schedule,” said Swenson.
The Moguls Ice Bar will be open Fridays from 3 – 9 p.m. and Saturdays noon – 9 p.m. People of all ages are welcome; the Ice Bar serves everything from whipped-cream topped-hot cocoa to alcoholic drinks. You can even try a drink from a shot glass made of ice!
Just be sure to dress for this unique Minnesota experience—mittens and mukluks recommended!
